This annual two-week session of the Commission brings together representatives of the United Nations, the UN Member States, as well as organizations and advocates from around the world to address progress made in raising the status of women.

This week-long session of the Commission reviews progress made since the 1994 adoption of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in Cairo, which established the importance of sexual and reproductive health and rights to the well-being of people, communities and nations.

This flagship report highlights gains made over the past 50 years, since the establishment of UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, and calls attention to the distance still to go before rights and choices are claimed by all.

Regional Meeting on Providing Rights-Based and Gender-Responsive Services for Women and Young People with Disabilities

This event, a collaboration between UNFPA's WE DECIDE Programme on Young Persons with Disabilities and Women Enabled International (WEI), reflects on the intersection of disability and sexual and reproductive health over the past 25 years. 

 

Media Advocacy Orientation on ICPD25 and the Nairobi Summit

21-22 May, Addis Ababa
This workshop contributes to an improved understanding of the main findings of the Addis Ababa Declaration on Population and Development adopted by African Ministers at the Africa Regional Conference on Population and Development and its 5-year review in Accra, Ghana. It also helps strengthen media awareness of ICPD25 and the Nairobi Summit.

International conference on Ending Sexual and Gender-based Violence in Humanitarian Crises

23-24 May, Oslo

This conference, organized by the Governments of Norway, Iraq, Somalia, and the United Arab Emirates, together with UNFPA, OCHA and the ICRC, mobilises commitment and resources to end sexual and gender-based violence in humanitarian emergencies.

74th Session of the UN General Assembly

The United Nations General Assembly is a meeting of the organization’s most representative body, providing a unique forum for discussions on the full range of international issues. This September marks the beginning of the General Assembly's 74th session, where the United Nations will address issues of critical global importance. This year’s UNGA will convene a Climate Summit, a high-level forum on Sustainable Development and a variety of high-level meetings.
