Jessica Kakesa

Jessica Kakesa is a medical doctor working as a humanitarian in the reproductive health sector. She is originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, precisely in the eastern town of Goma. For more than 8 years, she has worked to improve access to reproductive health services for women and girls in conflict settings. She has lead implementation of reproductive health interventions including family planning and post abortion care in eastern DRC. She also has great experience in provider training and coaching to improve quality of services. She is a committed advocate for reproductive health rights and was recognized by Newsdeeply as one of the nine family planning experts to watch. Additionally, Dr. Kakesa has won the Liv Ullman award for her impact working with young adolescent girls. She is now working with IRC as a reproductive health technical advisor and support great lakes and east Africa regions.
