Dr. Manuel Montes, Senior Adviser, Finance and Development & former Permanent Observer to the United Nations, The South Centre. The South Centre is an intergovernmental think tank created by and for developing countries. Mr. Montes works specifically on financing for development and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, investment treaties and tax cooperation, and industrial policy. Mr. Montes was previously Chief of Development Strategies at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs where he led the team that produced the World Economic and Social Survey. He has previously worked as the United Nations Development Programme’s Regional Programme Coordinator for the Asia Pacific Trade and Investment Initiative based in Sri Lanka and as Programme Officer for International Economic Policy at the Ford Foundation in New York.
