Chief Executive Margaret Pyke Tryst

David Johnson is the chief executive of the Margaret Pyke Trust, based in the UK. Under his stewardship, the Trust has become the only member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) with fifty years’ of family planning expertise, and has gained Observer Status at both the United National Environment Programme and United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. David has particular expertise in promoting the benefits of SRHR to sectors other than the health and gender sectors, to grow the SRHR alliance. With a background in environmental law and programme development for African environmental and SGBV NGOs, David’s focus is ensuring that the removal of barriers to family planning is considered a critical priority in global environmental conservation policy. He also works to develop cross-sector programmes where health and environment NGOs work together to ensure greater outcomes for human and environmental health. He is a member of the IUCN’s Commission on Environmental, Economic and Social Policy and Species Survival Commission.
