Reverend Carlos Tamez advises the work of the Latin American Council of Churches on the Themes of the Cairo Agenda as gender equality and justice, including sustainable development and environmental concerns, and among other areas. It has been a focal point of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with Faith-Based Civil Society Organizations for, over a decade. He also advises UNFPA on religious sensitivities and engagement on sexuality and reproductive health and Sexual and Reproductive Rights. Reverend Tamez played a critical role in the developing of a multi-religious civil society consensus on the CIPD Programme of Action, called the Montevideo Consensus, in Latin America in 2014. Most recently, he advises the UNFPA Country Offices on the Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy in Latin America, and on linking the topics of the Montevideo And Cairo Consensus with the 2030 Agenda, SDG.
