Nancy Wallace
World Federation for Mental Health

For over 30 years, Nancy has been providing consulting/training services to a wide array of international, national and locally based corporations and non-profit organizations, providing expertise in Trauma & Disaster, Gender Based Violence, Substance Abuse & Addiction, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), Organizational Change & Development, Employee Relations & Behavioral Health Care Systems, Conference & Program Organizing and International Consultation & Advocacy in Mental Health. She is a frequent speaker and trainer for some of the top corporations, conferences and organizations both globally and throughout the USA. Nancy is an adjunct faculty member at NYU Silver School of Social Work, teaching courses in clinical practice and international social policy and mental health. She maintains a private therapy practice in NYC and provides psychotherapy at University Settlement Consultation Center for low-income and immigrant clients.

Prior to establishing her consulting business in 1987, Nancy worked as a Corporate Officer at Bank of New York as a Human Resource Generalist, developing and managing the corporate-wide Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Nancy went on to a position as National Account Executive at Families International (formerly Family Service America) where she managed EAPs & Managed Care Programs for several of the country’s largest corporations and unions.

For the past 18 yrs, Nancy has been Main Representative to the UN forWorld Federation for Mental Health (WFMH), helping to found the UN NGO Committee on Mental Health in 1996, serving as Chair for 7 yrs, and continuing to act as Convenor of the Working Group on Trauma & Mental Health. In her capacity as NGO Representative, she provides expertise, advocacy and education to government missions and to the UN and its specialized agencies on mental health, women’s issues, GBV, human rights, refugees and immigrant concerns, social development, and violence, trauma and disaster response.

Specialties: Nancy has been involved in disaster relief efforts during some of the country’s worst disasters, including Hurricane Andrew, TWA Flight 800, September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center and following natural disasters in Taiwan and the Caribbean. She provides psychosocial services, organizational planning and response, training as an experienced disaster and trauma specialist to individuals, families, employers and communities following violent incidents and natural or man-made disaster.
