Henry Mwanyika
Regional Director for Africa PATH Center of Digital and Data Excellence

 Dr. Henry Mwanyika serves as PATH’s Center of Digital and Data Excellence Regional Director for Africa. With more than 20 years of experience in both the commercial ICT sector and the public sector, Dr. Mwanyika is a trusted advisor to governments across Africa. In his current role, he supports government efforts to design digital health infrastructure. In particular, Dr. Mwanyika supports the creation of road maps that support the design, investment, and implementation of end-to-end, integrated digital health systems. 

Dr. Mwanyika was a key driver in Tanzania’s effort to improve data quality and data use, directly supporting the government to develop the first digital health investment road map on the continent. In addition, he has led digital health work for PATH in Zambia, Kenya, Ghana, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. 

Dr. Mwanyika holds a PhD in Health Informatics from the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute at the University of Basel in Switzerland, an MSc. in business and information technology systems from the University of Strathclyde in the UK, and a BSc in computer science from the University of the West of England.
