Marco Schäferhoff

Marco Schäferhoff, PhD, is the Managing Director of Open Consultants. He brings over 15 years of
experience in global health financing and policy. He has supported a broad array of institutions in
global health, including Gavi, the Global Fund, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, WHO, UNAIDS,
UNICEF, the World Bank, PMNCH, major donor governments and a range of NGOs. In 2016, Marco
led a project for the International Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunity to develop
an investment case for education. Marco co-chairs the Joint Countdown to 2030 and PMNCH
Financial Working Group for Tracking SRMNCAH Financing. He is also a member of the Commission
on Investing in Health, co-chaired by former US Treasury Secretary Lawrence Summers and health
economist Dean Jamison. Marco has published widely on global health financing and policy and holds
an advanced degree in Politics and a PhD in Political Science.
