We recommend: 1. The effective participation of young people in the implementation, at all levels (local, national, regional), of the African Youth Charter and the African Union Roadmap on Harnessing the Demographic Dividend; 2. Compliance with, and the fulfilment of, commitments related to international treaties and conventions with regard to governance, including in the areas of health, education and creating youth employment; 3. The introduction of an international coalition to harness the demographic dividend in Africa, with a view to continuing to prioritize young people; 4. Support for developing and implementing a regional and continental strategy aimed at stepping up efforts and drastically reducing the security threat, instrumentalization, the radicalization and illegal migration of young Africans during armed conflicts, and rampant terrorism; 5. Setting up youth focal persons in all regional and continental programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting young African people and economic and social development; 6. Strengthening and scaling up regional initiatives that are promising or have proven successful, such as the Sahel Women's Empowerment and Demographic Dividend (SWEDD) regional initiative in West and Central Africa, in order to accelerate the demographic transition, boost the demographic dividend and reduce gender inequality in the Sahel region; 7. Setting up a support mechanism to champion youth and female entrepreneurship, while taking into account vulnerable groups 8. Introducing reforms in the education system so as to adapt it to changes in the labour market. 9. producing and analysing sociodemographic and economic data related to the youth index.

Modes of engagement:

• Budgetary and financial
   Soutenir la mise en place et le fonctionnement d’une grande coalition pour la capture du Dividende Démographique en Afrique et la mobilisation de ressources pour les programmes relatifs à la jeunesse africaine.
• Change or creation of legislation
   Appuyer dans tous les 23 pays la mise en œuvre en œuvre de politiques et programmes visant l’élimination de la mortalité maternelle, des besoins non satisfaits en PF et des violences basées sur le genre
• Policy and guidance
   Appuyer l’adoption et la vulgarisation de textes législatifs visant l’élimination des pratiques néfastes telles que les mariages précoces et les mutilations génitales féminines
• Programmatic action
   Appuyer la mise en œuvre des bonnes pratiques sur le DD et l’autonomisation des filles et des femmes telles que le projet sur l'autonomisation des femmes et le dividende démographique (SWEDD) et leur passage à l’échelle
