At the Ford Foundation, we believe that everyone should be able to live a life of dignity and it’s time our societies end the scourge of gender-based violence. Commitment description:

Commitment to fund and support Together for Girls, a global public-private partnership to end violence against children, particularly sexual violence against girls: BD’s commitment is in the form of my personal time as founder, board chair and member of the Leadership Council, as well as financial support of $600,000 over coming three years (in addition to prior financial support of over $600,000).

BD Odon Device for assisted vaginal birth

Commitment description:

Commitment to helping reduce maternal and newborn mortality: design, development, clinical testing, scaling and broad access to the BD Odon Device™, an innovative new medical device for assisted vaginal delivery of newborns. This is being accomplished collaboratively with multiple foundation, academic, professional society and nonprofit partners.

MOMcare is an initiative from PharmAccess Foundation that entitles pregnant women in Kenya and Tanzania to a Care Bundle for antenatal, delivery and postnatal care at designated facilities. The mothers are enrolled into a (partly) subsidized health insurance program and use the mobile platform M-TIBA to ‘check in’ and ‘pay’ at a clinic.
