Commitment description:The Ziguinchor Regional Youth Council is an umbrella non-profit organization under Senegalese law. Its aim is to help raise public awareness, participate in dialogues with decision makers and stakeholders, influence public policy, and share experiences and good practices. The Ziguinchor Regional Youth Council is committed to achieving the overall goal of guaranteeing access to comprehensive, age-appropriate, quality, timely and adolescent-friendly education and services for adolescents and young people so that they can make informed choices regarding their sexual and reproductive health, adequately protect themselves from unintended pregnancies, gender-based violence, sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS, and safely and happily make the transition to adulthood. The Ziguinchor Regional Youth Council is committed to advocating alongside regional authorities for the establishment of adolescent and youth information outlets in health centres across the region in order to facilitate access to sexual and reproductive health and family planning services for adolescents and young people throughout 2020.
Achieve universal access to sexual and reproductive health as a part of universal health coverage (UHC)(4) Access for all adolescents and youth, especially girls, to comprehensive and age-responsive information, education and adolescent-friendly comprehensive, quality and timely services to be able to make free and informed decisions and choices about their sexuality and reproductive lives, to adequately protect themselves from unintended pregnancies, all forms of sexual and gender-based violence and harmful practices, sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS, to facilitate a safe transition into adulthood.
