Laerdal increases its commitment to reduce maternal and newborn mortality

Commitment description:

Laerdal has previously made a funding commitment to Every Women Every Child of USD $55 m for 2010 -2020, and is pleased to announce an additional funding commitment of USD $65 million for the period up till 2030.
Of this, USD $40 million will be used to fund our pledge to the Global Financing Facility for an Innovation to Scale Initiative, our continued support to the ICM led 50,000 Happy Birthdays program, a collaboration with WFSA to further global access to safe and affordable surgery and anesthesia, the continued scale-up of the Helping Mothers Survive and Helping Babies Survive training programs under the leadership of Jhpiego and the American Academy of Pediatrics, a family planning program in India, the Safer Births program in Tanzania and Nepal, and further development of 12-15 innovative training and therapeutic products through the not-for-profit social enterprise Laerdal Global Health.
The remaining USD $25 million will be channeled through the Laerdal Foundation for awards to practically oriented research projects to reduce maternal and newborn mortality.
