Commitment from the Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Brazil

Commitment description:

This year marks the 25th anniversary of ICPD and the Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Brazil joins the world to celebrate this important milestone. The Alliance is a Brazilian a private and philanthropic sector platform founded in 2018 that aims to strengthen the sexual and reproductive health and rights agenda, create opportunities to qualify the public debate and confirm the importance of public policies.
The Alliance recognizes that the Cairo agenda still needs to be achieved for all people everywhere. There are 214 million women who want to avoid pregnancy but are not using a contraceptive method of their choice. More than 800 women die every day from preventable causes during pregnancy and childbirth countless millions of women are affected by structural inequalities and humanitarian emergencies and are excluded from services designed to support them. In this context, the Alliance for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Brazil announces its commitment to:
- Act in accordance with the guidelines set by public policies in the health and education sector, especially those related to the health of women, adolescents and youth, STIs and HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment, men’s health, primary health care, prevention strategies and care for victims and survivors of violence, racial and gender equality and human rights;
- Mobilize resources and establish partnerships, including civil society, universities and the public sector, for the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of joint programs;
- Produce and stimulate the production and dissemination of knowledge, including the systematization and sharing of good practices;
- Take communication measures to promote human rights, health rights and sexual and reproductive rights;
- Develop educational and informational materials for different audiences, taking a pro-gender perspective and considering the specificities of particular groups, such as people with disabilities.
