Chris Baryomunsi
State Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development Government of Uganda

Hon. Chris Baryomunsi is a Medical doctor by training, a public health specialist, demographer and politician. He is the elected Member of Parliament for Kinkiizi East, in Western Uganda, and currently the State Minister for Housing in the Cabinet of Uganda. He also served as State Minister of Health for General Duties from 1 March 2015 until 6 June 2016.

He served at UNFPA Uganda as the National Programme Officer for Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS. He was elected and served as a Parliamentary Commissioner for NRM in the Parliament of Uganda from June 2011 to April 2014 when new Commission Members were appointed. He is known to be a critical lawmaker, having moved a motion to outlaw female genital mutilation (FGM) on the floor of Parliament of Uganda in 2010. He also served as Chairman of the African Parliamentarians Forum on Population and Development. He supports funding for maternal health in the budget.
